Scuba diving holidays in the Red Sea

Undoubtedly one of the worlds most precious treasures is the Red Sea, and only c 5 hours from the UK. Warm clear waters, teeming with marine life and amazing corals, The Red Sea is a divers paradise. Some say it is the best place to dive in the world. We say it is not to be missed!

Above ground, Egypt is a country steeped with history, culture and diverse tourism experiences – from the pyramids of Giza to the temples at Abu Simbal, the burning bush at St Catherine's Monastery and the spectacular desert that offers the traveller the opportunity to dine with the Bedouin at night under unpolluted skies, this is a destination that will exceed every expectation.

Putting this aside, The Red Sea offers the diver the very best environment in which to experience the truly awesome underwater world. With pretty much zero rainfall, the seas are crystal clear, with viz commonly exceeding 30 metres.

The climate offers 365 days per annum of sunshine, and the water temperatures average 28 degrees throughout the year – a 3mm shortie will do the job pretty much all year round!

The Egyptians have capitalised on the quality of the diving in the Red Sea, and have built an awesome infrastructure to support this element of tourism – The Red Sea is literally made for diving.

High quality house reef diving from the shores of your hotel, highly organised day boat diving taking you to the off-shore dive sites, and an abundance of diving safaris offering all of the big stuff on a live-aboard basis.

From brightly coloured coral reefs that drop off to great depths, currents that are great for drift-diving, marine reserves and no-fishing zones protecting the spectacular marine life, to some of the best and most famous wrecks in the world, The Red Sea has it all!

On top of all of this, as if it couldn't be better, The Red Sea is an excellent place to learn to dive. With internationally recognised (PADI and BSAC to name a couple) diving schools dotted all around, and the calm clear waters on the shores of just about every hotel, learning to dive couldn't be easier. To top it all, the Egyptian Government have adopted European safety standards (ISO) that all dive centres have to adhere to, and they are rigorous in making sure that safety and quality standards are adhered to. You couldn't be safer, and competition means that it won't cost you a fortune too!

So, where in The Red Sea do you want to go? This is an important question, as the on-land experience varies dependent upon the resort you choose, and this of course depends on what you want to do, and how!
