Outside channel - Cayo Levisa

An awesome dive on the outer wall of the offshore reef. Deep, dark, atmospheric and stuffed to the brim with schools of large snapper, spadefish, jacks and barracuda. With the floor dropping off dramatically below 50 metres, this is a great wall dive.

Overhangs, caves and crevasses lining the wall give plentiful hiding places for squirrel fish, big eyed snapper and the like, and have become home for massive whips and sponges that hang everywhere.

Black corals, gorgonians and table corals of good size provide shelter for the little critters, and keep an eye out for the real macro stuff here too – brittle stars, dresser crabs and banded coral shrimps adorn the top of the wall, so the safety stop provides real scenery too!

4 spot angel fish, puffer, box and hogfish dart in and out of your vision, and sunfish are again often seen here in large numbers.

This is a great first dive of the day – as deep as you want to safely go, and real atmosphere too with the dark wall and depth combining to make this dive almost a twilight dive.

The current is enough to call this a real drift dive, and the gentle surge on top of the reef, combined with the no fishing zone, means that there is life a-plenty everywhere you look. One of our favourites!
