An environmentalist free-diver has encountered an unusual scuba diving experience as he jumps in to the shark-infested waters off Guadeloupe Island in Mexico and serenades a man-eating Great White Shark with his guitar.

Andy Brandy Casagrande, an environmentalist free-diver has taken scuba diving to another level as he jumps into man-eating shark infested waters off Guadeloupe Island in Mexico and serenades a Great White shark with just a guitar and no safety cage.

The diver carried out the life threatening stunt to raise awareness of Great White Shark conservation and recorded the video of him clutching his guitar as the dangerous shark swam nearby.

The video has since been an internet hit and has been showed at film festivals around the globe. The lyrics included: "If I was a great white I wouldn't bite you, but I'd swim right next to you".

Andy claims that the scuba diving experience was not as frightening as people might think and produced the video to prove that they are peaceful creatures. Andy commented:

"It's a very, very exhilarating wait.  When you first see that first white shark approach the boat, it's a feeling you'll never forget.

"You'll never forget that image for the rest of your life: this big, giant smile coming straight at you. And you realise you're not afraid of that animal at all. It's just beautiful, majestic, come swimming, gliding by. People's perception of sharks is based on what you see at movies and on television. And it's really not the case. They're majestic. They're beautiful, they're quiet."

The extreme diver added: "People think I was mad to jump in the water holding only my guitar, but I proved my point. I am still here."

Scuba diving holidays in Mexico and Cancun are amongst some of the most popular in the world and the Cancun region is home to part of the world’s second longest coral reef, the ancient Maya Reef.

The stunning reef stretches from Cabo Catoche in Mexico all the way to the Bay Islands in Honduras, running parallel to the shoreline from as little as 300 feet and up to 120 miles out at sea.

The opportunities for snorkelling and scuba diving in Cancun are endless and divers of all levels can experience the stunning underwater delights available in the Caribbean coastal region.
