Laberinto (labyrinth) - Havana

Serviced by Marlin Marina Hemingway, this is a great dive site. Don't forget your passport though when diving from here, as Marina Hemingway is an international port.

15 minutes by fast boat, and you are over the dive site. Dropping down into a dramatic, moody and atmospheric environment, with the wall descending down to beyond 40 metres, you will quickly see what we mean – this is like putting Dartmoor underwater! Ragged rock formations make the scenery quite extreme, with massive outcrops and underwater mountains, surrounded by clear water – the viz here extends beyond 30 metres!

Home to larger fish, this site delivers barracuda in large numbers, both juvenile and mature – some reaching beyond 5' in length.
Large snapper, Atlantic spadefish and yellow tails are everywhere, and the occasional sunfish and even shark can be experienced on this one. Keep an eye on the sandy bottom too – large rays with a wingspan of 2+ metres can be seen from above.

The wall provides stunning hard and soft corals, and the gentle current makes this diveable with the minimum of effort.

Free swimming rays and morays complete the picture, but it is the scenery that gets you on this one – swim throughs, overhangs and deep crevasses lie in front of you , just waiting for you to explore, inhabited by the tiny critters, and numerous morays and octopi.

Again you will immediately forget that you are in a capital city, and the only disappointment on this site is that the dive must end!
