Positioned by the Siguanea Bay to the south of La Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth), in the place that is often called "the land of the  thousand names" in allusion to the denominations the place received along the centuries and inaugurated in the 50's, El Colony Hotel rises in a paradisiacal beach to the south of this Cuban island, being a convenient 5 minutes from the airport of Siguanea, a-35 minutes' flight from Havana and 42 km from the city of Nueva Gerona.

The Hotel El Colony has a fascinating past with stories and legends of corsairs and pirates that once upon a time used the island to hide their treasures and in whose adventures the writer, Robert Louis Stevenson drew inspiration to write his novel, The Island of the Treasure. They say that treasures buried by the pirates around this area still exist and that they have never been located.
